Reverend Harriet

Rev. Harriet Joanne Mathis-Clary was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. Minister Harriet has an A.B.A (Business Administration Degree), B.A. (Bachelor of Arts Degree w/Honors) in English Literature and Public Health and in December 2021 completed her requirements and received a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Narrative Medicine.
Rev. Harriet has been a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, New York for many years. She was called to Ministry and presented her initial sermon in July of 2013. She served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 11 years until 2024, teaches the New Membership Orientation Class, and shares in teaching our Adult and Tiny Tots/Kindergarten Sunday school classes. More importantly, she is an advocate for our Sunday School Members.
She is also an active member of the Macedonia Annie L. Nixon Memorial Scholarship Fund and an Alumni Member and The Rev. John L. Scott Associate Ministers’ Auxiliary. Rev. Harriet serves the community as a member of United Missionary Baptist Association and the Narrative Medicine Social Justice Group at Columbia University. Rev. Harriet is currently employed in the Healthcare Industry and is a member of the Association for Healthcare Administrative Professionals and the Coordinator Advisory Council (CAC) for Graduate Medical Education.
Rev. Harriet believes that the Lord has touched her life to further the Kingdom of God among family, friends, believers, children and unbelievers. Rev. Harriet often states that her life is truly a journey and she is eternally grateful for the mercy, faith and love shown to her by Jesus.
For scripture informs us in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to the bones.
