OUR GOD GIVEN AUTHORITY

Download the June Prayer Calendar
Authority is the power to influence, or command thought, opinion, or behavior. It is freedom granted by one in authority-a right.  Our authority granted by Jesus implies power for a specific purpose within specified limits.
Before His ascension, in (Matthew 28:18), Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” Continuing in (Matthew 28:19-20), Jesus gave the disciples the authority to go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that He commanded them; and He would be with them always, even to the end of the age.” He has given us that same authority to go. Go where? To do the work He’s given us to do in His name.
He said in (Luke 10:19), “Behold, I give unto you power (authority) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Jesus is talking about the power of Satan when He speaks of serpents and scorpions. God Himself is the power behind our authority! The devil and his forces are obliged to recognize our authority!
When Christ ascended, He transferred His authority to the church. He is the Head of the church, and believers make up His Body. Christ’s authority must be perpetrated through His Body which is on earth. Throughout Paul’s epistles/letters, he uses the human body as an illustration of the Body of Christ. Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father-in the place of authority, and we’re seated with Him.
We will not understand our authority with our intellect, we must get the spiritual revelation of it. We must believe it by faith. Read (Ephesians 2:1-10) to understand that we were raised up with Christ. When we realize that the authority that belongs to Christ also belongs to us, our lives will be revolutionized.
As long as Satan can keep us in unbelief and fear, he’ll defeat us. But if we hold him in the arena of faith and the Spirit, we’ll defeat him.    Faith is involved in exercising spiritual authority. Your faith must be based on the Bible. We must defeat the devil with the Word of God as Jesus did in (Matthew 4:1-11). The Word of God is from the Spirit of God and is of utmost importance. To defeat the devil, we must continually be arrayed with spiritual armor.
Paul says in (Ephesians 6:10-11), “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Continue to read in (Ephesians 6:12-17) to learn how to remain undefeated.
When we take advantage of the spiritual armor provided for us, the enemy cannot defeat us. AMEN!
